pricing notes
Our service providers work on a level system, reflecting varying experience, expertise and demands on their time. This level system allows for a range of pricing options for our clients, as well as an opportunity for growth within our team. Please call the studio at 250 385 6277 for a quote, and please note that additional fees may apply for length of hair, required time or extra colour required. Complimentary consultations are available with each service provider and highly recommended to ensure our guests are comfortable with the service and pricing prior to their appointment.
Please make sure that you have a thorough consultation with your hairstylist. Our stylists have the right to refuse service to ensure that the integrity of the hair will not be compromised. Many colour services cannot be achieved without more than one appointment and may take 2-3 appointments to reach your goal. If you have previous henna, or metallic dyes in your hair, you must inform your stylist so that we can responsibly provide you with the best service.
FAQ
How often should I get a hair cut?
We recommend getting a hair cut every 4-6 weeks to maintain the shape of your hair cut.
Should my hair be dirty when getting my hair coloured?
Please arrive with your hair clean without hair powders or mascara's to ensure the best colour results.
Should I wash my hair before coming in for an up-style?
Yes, please make sure to arrive with clean, dry hair for your up-style appointment.
What colour line do you use?
We use Redken & Swartzkopf.
What is the difference between balayage and highlights?
Balayage is a French word that means “to sweep.” In this hair colour technique, highlights are hand-painted or “swept” on the surface of random sections of hair. Dye or lightener is usually painted on starting mid-shaft and becomes denser as it moves down the section of hair to the ends. Because the colour is swept onto the surface of the hair, the effect created is a natural sun-kissed glow. It can last anywhere from 3-6 months.
Highlights are created using aluminum foil to help saturate precise strands of hair from root to tip for a more intense lightening effect. In this technique, strands of hair are precisely sectioned out by weaving a pick through small subsections and wrapping the separated strands in aluminum foil. The effect? A more pronounced contrast between the lightened strands and your base colour that frames your face and adds beautiful dimension to your mane. Highlights follow a more structured pattern and will need to be touched up more often to combat that obvious root grow-out look.

What is an Eco Charge and why is it showing up on my receipt?
Here at Heartwood and Co. we are a Green Circle certified salon. We add a small fee called our “Eco Fee” to help our salon with costs that allow us to recycle 95% of all our waste. The beauty industry sends 877 pounds of waste to the landfill every single minute and we hope to make a big change with that statistic. Spa waste (gloves, bed sheets, wax sticks, lash products, paper towel, tissues, etc), colour, hair, paper, plastics and foils/metals are all things we are able to recycle thanks to the help of Green Circle. If you have any more questions about Green Circle, feel free to call us at the salon or visit https://greencirclesalons.com for more details.
